Great program on Sunday at the ALA Annual Conference. Laura Lippman and her husband, David Simon, were the speakers at the PLA President's Program. David Simon mentioned that it is "infuriating" that 100K copies is a bestseller in a nation of 300M! Most of the questions after the panel were for Simon, prompting Lippman to good-naturedly ask a room of librarians if anyone here reads!
Laura spoke at our library two years ago and is a huge advocate for libraries and librarians. She comes from a "book" family as her mom was a school librarian and sister owns a bookstore. She's a great speaker and a lovely lady as well.
